    Among its many treasures are charming towns that offer a glimpse into our heritage and natural beauty.

    Here are a few of South Africa’s prettiest towns and villages worth visiting. 

    Dullstroom

    Often referred to as the trout fishing capital of South Africa, Dullstroom is a quaint town set in the scenic Highlands of Mpumalanga.

    With its welcoming climate, beautiful lakes and rolling hills, it is perfect for outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking and birdwatching. The town also features charming shops, cozy cafes and a rich history that adds to its appeal.

    Hermanus

    Hermanus is a coastal gem along the Garden Route which is famous for its whale watching.

    The town boasts spectacular ocean views, beautiful beaches and a picturesque cliff path that runs along the shoreline.

    Over and above its natural beauty, Hermanus is also home to a vibrant arts community and hosts an annual whale festival that attracts visitors from around the world.

    Paternoster

    Paternoster is a charming fishing village on the West Coast. It is famous for its whitewashed cottages and pristine beaches.

    The destination offers a tranquil escape with its laid-back atmosphere and stunning sunsets. When visiting Paternoster, you can enjoy fresh seafood at local restaurants, explore the nearby Cape Columbine Nature Reserve or simply relax on the beach.

    Clarens

    Often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Free State’, Clarens is a quaint destination surrounded by the majestic Maluti Mountains.

    It is known for its artistic vibe and is dotted with galleries, craft shops and cozy cafes. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you can explore nearby hiking trails. Plus, the stunning scenery makes it a perfect spot for photography and relaxation.

    Tzaneen

    Tzaneen is nestled in the lush valleys of the Limpopo province. The hidden gem showcases the region’s agricultural bounty.

    Boasting a subtropical climate, Tzaneen is surrounded by orchards of bananas, avocados, and citrus fruit. It is also a gateway to the stunning Modjadji Cycad Reserve which home to an impressively large concentration of cycads.

    For wildlife enthusiasts, the iconic Kruger National Park is about an hour and a half away. If you don’t mind the drive, a safari can seal off your experience on the perfect note.
