The Gauteng High Court has ordered social commentator Anele Mda to retract her social media posts and issue a public apology to ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula.
The ruling comes after Mda falsely linked Mbalula to the 2015 murder of businessman Wandile Bozwana.

In its judgment, the court declared Mda’s posts “defamatory and false,” stressing that they caused serious harm to Mbalula’s reputation. The Secretary-General filed an urgent application last week, arguing that Mda’s allegations were baseless and malicious.
Anele Mda Stands Firm: “I Will Not Bow”
Despite the court’s order giving her 24 hours to comply, Mda has responded with defiance. Quoting President Cyril Ramaphosa, she said:

“In the words of Cyril Ramaphosa, I will not bow, I will not be bullied.”
Mda argued that the allegations were already in the public domain and claimed the matter was not urgent. However, the court disagreed, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding Mbalula’s name, particularly as public officials face ongoing scrutiny.
The Bozwana Murder Case and Its Fallout
Wandile Bozwana was shot dead in a high-profile attack in Pretoria in 2015. Last year, four men, including taxi boss Vusi “Khekhe” Mathibela, were convicted of the murder.
Mda’s recent claims echoed unproven reports from 2019, which Mbalula has repeatedly rejected, pointing out that he was a close friend of Bozwana. The court has warned that failure to comply with its order could lead to further legal consequences for Mda.
