Washington DC. Tech giant Apple’s market capitalization briefly exceeded 5 trillion US dollars for the first time in history on Tuesday.

With this, Apple has become the second company in the world to achieve the historic milestone of $5 trillion, after Nvidia.

During Tuesday’s stock trading, Apple’s stock price reached $342.89, bringing the company’s total market value to $5.036 trillion. However, later the stock closed at $339.33 with a 0.72 percent increase, and its market capitalization was set at $4.98 trillion.

Apple became the world’s most valuable company earlier this month, surpassing chipmaker Nvidia. Nvidia, which held the top position until June 2025, was the first company to cross the $5 trillion mark. On Tuesday, Nvidia’s stock rose by 0.53 percent to $197.63, with its total market value at $4.78 trillion.

Apple has adopted a different strategy compared to other competing large tech companies, instead of spending heavily on the AI race and reducing cash flow and increasing debt. Apple is getting good returns due to high demand for its products and a restrained strategy. This year alone, Apple’s stock has increased by about 25 percent. This performance has surpassed other large tech companies known as the ‘Magnificent 7’, such as Nvidia, Meta, Alphabet, and Microsoft.

Apple relies on Google’s AI technology to operate new services like the new series. This has saved the company from heavy infrastructure costs in data centers. In addition, analysts say that the decision to keep the price of the iPhone stable while increasing the prices of MacBooks and iPads has helped boost demand.

Meanwhile, Apple has launched a device leasing program in the US in collaboration with payment firm ‘Klarna’. Under this plan, customers can use iPhones for $17.99 per month, Apple Watches or iPads for $11.99, or Macs for $24.99.

“Apple has rejected the AI spending race and bet that customer experience, not infrastructure investment, will determine the ultimate winner,” said Deepanjan Chatterjee, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester.

Commenting that the new leasing program is a clever response, Chatterjee added, “It doesn’t lower the price of the iPhone, but it changes the consumer’s way of thinking by converting the hassle of paying a large sum at once into predictable monthly installments.”

Apple is set to release its third-quarter financial results after the stock market closes on Thursday. Analysts estimate that the company’s quarterly revenue will increase by more than 15 percent compared to the previous year.
