Bernice Ferreira secured the SA national Junior Lightweight belt when ‘The Badger’ defeated defending champion Nozipho Bell in a dominant performance at the Battle of the Farm Boxing Tournament in Pretoria, on Saturday, 8 November 2025.

The undefeated boxer confirmed her status as one to watch, winning every round of the bout to advance her professional record to 9-nil, in the South African highlight of the evening.

Prior to the title showdown, the evening’s bantamweight bout saw Zimbabwe’s Monica Mkandla claim a decisive six-round victory in her international non-title bout.

Zimbabwe’s Monica Mkandla celebrates another win after her 10-round Bantamweight win over Gabisile Tshabalala.

Mkandla, who was unveiled as Woman in Africa winner at the 2025 gsport Awards earlier this year, faced off against Gabisile Tshabalala.

The Zimbabwean boxer’s speed and pace proved superior, as Mkandla secured a thrilling unanimous points decision, a standout win which further cements Mkandla’s impressive ascent in the sport.
