The United States’ involvement in Venezuela has benefited BigLaw firms’ lobbying and public policy practices, according to a story by Law.com.

Law firms are advising clients of the latest news pertaining to Venezuela, answering trade and compliance-related questions, and engaging with the Trump administration and Capitol Hill on clients’ behalf. They are also advising oil and gas clients, along with discussing the situation with the Trump administration, according to Law.com.

Representatives from more than a dozen oil and gas companies met with President Donald Trump last week about U.S. strategy in Venezuela. Trump has asked U.S. oil companies to commit $100 billion toward rebuilding Venezuela’s petroleum sector, the report said.

Firms such as Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck; Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; Dentons; Bracewell; Miller & Chevalier; and Ballard Partners have all represented some of the same oil and gas companies that met with Trump last week, including Chevron, ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips, according to Law.com.
