The Super Falcons‘ international friendly against Ghana’s Black Queens, scheduled for Saturday, July 18, in Casablanca, Morocco, has been cancelled.

The Nigerian women’s national team confirmed the development in a statement posted on their official X account on Friday.

The cancellation comes as both West African rivals continue preparations for upcoming international competitions. However, no further details were provided regarding the circumstances that led to the decision, while it remains unclear whether the fixture will be rescheduled.

The fixture was expected to serve as part of both teams’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which kicks off in Morocco on Sunday, July 19.

Nigeria, record ten-time African champions, are drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana, as the Super Falcons bid to reclaim the continental title. Ghana, meanwhile, will compete in Group C with defending champions South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.

Neither the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) nor the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has provided further details on the reason for the cancellation, and it remains unclear whether the friendly will be rescheduled before the start of the tournament.

Both teams are expected to continue their final preparations in Morocco ahead of their opening WAFCON matches.
