    Flying from Dubai this weekend? Emirates issues travel advisory

    Before you pack and head out, Emirates has issued a travel advisory that could affect your journey

    If you’re travelling via Emirates, take note that Dubai’s flagship carrier has urged all passengers travelling on December 18 and 19 to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their departure time. Passengers were reminded to plan ahead and to bear in mind the traffic getting to the airport due to the heavy rain expected.

    For passengers travelling by Emirates First and Business Class who have opted for Chauffeur Drive, do note that during this time, you will be picked up an hour earlier than your previously scheduled time.

    Dubai Police issued a public weather alert at 8.30am on December 18, to residents about upcoming unstable weather conditions.

    Dubai saw light rain on December 18, from 1pm to 5pm  but conditions are set to worsen, with heavy rain forecast from 10pm tonight through to approximately 10am tomorrow, Thursday, December 19.

    The National Centre of Meteorology has also warned that parts of the UAE may experience lightning, thunder and hail on Thursday, December 18, and Friday, December 19.

    Driving in the rain? Here are the fines you need to be aware of

    Dubai Police issued another warning on the evening of December 18, urging people to stay at home.

    In the text, Dubai Police said, “For your safety, please remain cautious as unstable weather conditions are expected in the coming hours, and avoid going out unless it is absolutely necessary until midday on Friday, December 19.”

    Attraction around Dubai temporarily close

    Global Village Dubai announced a temporary closure ‘from today, Thursday, December 18 until further notice, to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.’

    The other outdoor attraction in Dubai that has announced a closure due to the weather is Hatta Wadi Hub. A post on shared on their official Instagram channel from DubaiFestivals says, ‘Important update: All DSF x Hatta Wadi Hub activities are cancelled on December 18, due to the weather forecast.’

    It added, ‘Safety first! We look forward to welcoming you back for a fun-filled experience as soon as the skies clear. Stay tuned for more updates.’

    An announcement was also made by Expo City Dubai about the closure of its Winter City. The announcement stated, ‘Winter City will be closed on Thursday, December 18, and we look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible. Please note that all purchased tickets will be refunded.’

    If you are heading outdoors – be sure to check the weather conditions beforehand in order to keep you and your loved ones safe.
