Travelling with children can be a rewarding experience, especially when the trip is designed to be educational.

Through educational travel, your children have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, histories and environments.

An educational trip also fosters creativity, curiosity and a sense of adventure. Here are some things to consider as you embark on educational travel with kids:

    Set clear educational goals

Before packing your bags, have a conversation with your children about what they look forward to and what they hope to learn.

Are they interested in exploring the destination’s history, or learning more about its culture and art?

By setting clear educational goals, you will be able to curate a trip that is empowering and focused on fulfilling the desired objective.

Make sure your destination is family-friendly

Choosing a suitable destination is of utmost importance. Ensure that your destination offers a variety of educational experiences which are captivating and informative for children.

As part of your itinerary, consider places such as national parks, historical sites and museums.

    Include engaging activities

Make it a point to include activities that are both fun and educational. You can choose between family-friendly guided tours, nature walks and scavenger hunts.

Interactive learning can also help your children to learn better, thus resulting in a fun and empowering educational experience. As such, it is beneficial to enhance the learning experience using photography, apps and audiobooks.

    Embrace local culture

Immerse your children in the local culture to enhance the educational experience.

Involve your children as you try out new foods and learn about the cultural significance thereof.

It also helps to attend local events such as festivals, markets and performances that showcase the culture of your chosen destination.
