A long-running action franchise is taking over the world with its epic conclusion dominating multiple streaming charts. Viewers have long enjoyed the high-octane action that series like John Wick, Mad Max, Fast & Furious, and Mission: Impossible are known for. They’ve all been very relevant in the last decade, with the latter remaining the biggest of the bunch.
Tom Cruise has kept audiences entertained as he’s risked his life time and time again making Mission: Impossible movies since 1996. All those years of playing Impossible Mission Force agent Ethan Hunt have come to an end with Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, which is his sendoff from the blockbuster franchise by all accounts.
Paramount released the movie in theaters last year. Upon its arrival, The Final Reckoning was met with a warm reception. It earned an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and proved to be a solid performer at the box office, grossing $598 million worldwide. Thanks to Cruise’s love of the theatrical experience, the franchise capper enjoyed prolonged theatrical exclusivity.
The Final Reckoning didn’t go to digital until nearly three months after premiering in cinemas. The movie’s streaming debut on Paramount+ was held for over six months. And while The Final Reckoning hit #1 on Paramount’s streaming charts quickly, it’s found new life several months later around the world.
Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning Is Trending On Multiple Streaming Services Around The Globe
Nowadays, a movie can find a sudden surge in popularity as it moves around from one streaming service to another. That’s proven to be true once more with The Final Reckoning. Paramount has licensed the movie out to its streaming competitors in various places around the world, which has helped it land on top charts in multiple places.
As of April 7, The Final Reckoning is in the top 10 worldwide trending charts for Netflix and Paramount+ (via FlixPatrol). The latter is hardly a surprise, as Cruise’s action movie has been a staple on the streamer since its debut in December 2025. It’s not currently in the top 10 in America, but its placement there in eight other countries has helped it maintain the ninth spot on Paramount+’s worldwide charts.
The popularity on Netflix is new, though. The Final Reckoning is now streaming there in multiple international countries, holding a spot in the top 10 in 20 and climbing to #1 in 13. That global interest is enough to put The Final Reckoning at eighth on Netflix’s worldwide charts, even with the streaming rights split up like this.
American viewers are also rediscovering The Final Reckoning as it’s moved to Prime Video, while still being available on Paramount+. It’s currently the fourth-biggest movie on Amazon’s streamer in the United States, remaining behind Prime Video’s #1 trending movie, Crime 101.
The Final Reckoning’s Success Is A Sign Of Mission: Impossible’s Popularity
Rather than dominating one specific streaming service, the Mission: Impossible franchise has managed to connect with audiences in multiple markets on a wide variety of streamers. And the history many have with this series and Cruise are big reasons why The Final Reckoning is having this resurgence in popularity worldwide.
These movies have been part of people’s lives for nearly 30 years, and the box office grosses of the modern installments prove just how well they appeal to individuals around the world. The series wouldn’t have made over $4.3 billion worldwide if there hadn’t been substantial interest in Ethan Hunt’s impossible missions and Cruise’s thrilling stunts.
While plenty of people saw The Final Reckoning in theaters, the movie’s accessibility on a variety of streaming services has paved the way for more attention. Whether someone is checking it out for the first time to see how the Mission: Impossible franchise ends or revisiting the culminating chapter, the epic finale is being experienced by a global fanbase.
The streaming performance will just help position Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning as more of a hit for Paramount. And with the clear interest, questions about whether this is really the end for Cruise in his biggest franchise will continue to linger. There may just be enough of a hunger to see him back, leaving it up to the star and studio to figure out if another Mission: Impossible will ever happen.
