Law schools beef up artificial intelligence skills training

Artificial intelligence is gaining prominence in law school curricula, with more courses offering AI skills that aim to prep aspiring attorneys for their future careers.
According to data collected by Bloomberg Law’s Law School Innovation Program published Thursday, 25 of 28 ABA-accredited law schools stated that they offered AI-focused courses that teach a variety of skills. Only three of the law schools do not offer multiple AI-focused courses, according to the survey.
Key skills for practice are most frequently taught, including AI and legal ethics, AI literacy, and AI for legal research and writing, according to the survey.
The Law School Innovation Program survey focused on collective quantitative metrics, such as data around skills-based teaching and technology integration. Schools self-reported data through a questionnaire collected from Oct. 1, 2025, to Dec. 5, 2025.
