    Charges Under Anti-Terrorism Act

Zuma-Sambudla, 42, the daughter of former president and MK Party leader Jacob Zuma, is charged under the Protection of Constitutional Democracy Against Terrorist and Related Activities Act for allegedly inciting violence during the unrest that rocked South Africa in 2021.

Prosecution Rejects Plea to Drop Case

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed it is ready to proceed with the case.

NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga revealed that Zuma-Sambudla’s legal team had requested the state to abandon the case, arguing there were no prospects of a successful prosecution.

“We thoroughly examined this with the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions and concluded there is no merit in their submission,” said Mhaga.

The pretrial conference will determine whether the state and the defence are ready to proceed, with evidence from the police docket expected to be furnished in court.
