The Legal Practitioners Development Fund (LPDF) is looking for legal practitioners who would like to be mentors to its beneficiaries. In a bid to support and develop its beneficiaries, the LPDF will be introducing the Mentorship Programme as a new added benefit to beneficiaries of its grant. According to the organisation, the ‘Mentor-Mentee’ programme is aimed at empowering new and up-coming legal practitioners with holistic and requisite business skills in order to maximise their areas of practice. The Mentor-Mentee programme was proposed at the LPDF Annual General Meeting that was held in Gqeberha on 19 October 2024.

Young legal practitioners who would like to be a part of this programme need to be beneficiaries of the LPDF. The LDPF offers a R 50 000 loan to sole practitioners; and R 75 000 to practitioners with an associate in their law firm. Both types of loans are interest free loans to help recipients with selected office resources for their law firms. Senior legal practitioners who would like to be a part of this great initiative are requested to contact the LDPF. To be eligible for this loan, the applicant must be an admitted legal practitioner in South Africa, have an up-to-date Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC), and be able to prove by showing on a cash flow projection that you are indeed struggling.

Legal practitioners who would like assistance from the LPDF, must visit the LPDF’s website at www.lpdf.org.za and fill in the application form. All applications must be completed online. For legal practitioners who would like to mentor beneficiaries please contact the LPDF.
