A number of key roads in Mpumalanga’s Kruger Lowveld region are currently being upgraded.

This follows the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) takeover of the key provincial route.

As reported by Travel News, the upgrades are expected to provide a significant improvement to the access and safety of one of the country’s most visited tourism regions.

Upgrades have already commenced on the R540 between Dullstroom and Lydenburg/Mashishing. Moreover, visible improvements have been reported by some visitors over the Easter period.

According to Kruger Lowveld Tourism, key access routes which have been taken over by SANRAL include the following:

    – R538: White River to Hazyview and Hazyview to R40 intersection

    – R40: White River to Mbombela

    – Roads surrounding the Crossing Shopping Centre in Mbombela

    – R533: Graskop to Bushbuckridge

    – R571: Komatipoort to Marloth Park intersection

    – Plaston Road, including Karino section, leading to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport

    – Barberton Makhonjwa Geotrail: Bulembu Border to Barberton

    – Low’s Creek to Kaapmuiden

Stop-go controls remain in place, and tourists can take comfort in safe passage to the northern parts of the Kruger Lowveld region.
