National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola revealed that the arrest of murder-accused Vusumuzi “Cat” Matlala shed light on the push to dissolve the KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).

Matlala, who has been linked to Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection General Shadrack Sibiya, is accused of being among criminal figures who infiltrated law enforcement structures.

    Masemola Testifies at Madlanga Commission

Speaking at the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria, the police chief explained that despite attempts to shut down the PKTT, the team remains operational.

“After the arrest of Matlala on the 14 May 2025 it became clear as to what was the objective of the disbandment. The team is still working even currently we are going to beef it up,” he testified.
