South Africa Open to Mediation Role

Ramaphosa indicated that Pretoria would not hesitate to get involved if called upon to help facilitate dialogue between the warring parties.

“South Africa is always ready to play a contributing role, either in mediation or whatever. And if a gap opens or if we are asked, we always live up to our obligations,” Ramaphosa said, according to comments broadcast by Newzroom Afrika.

He stressed that ending hostilities remains the priority. “If the opportunity were to open, we would talk and say, there must be a ceasefire. Dialogue is always the best way of ending conflict and then ending the war. And we want this war to come to an end immediately.”

    Call for Ceasefire and Dialogue

The President reiterated that negotiation and engagement remain the most effective tools to resolve armed conflict.

His remarks come amid ongoing violence in the region, with global leaders continuing to push for diplomatic solutions.
