France hooker Peato Mauvaka faces a disciplinary hearing on Thursday after being cited for foul play in Saturday’s Six Nations clash against Scotland in Paris.

The incident occurred during France’s title-clinching 35-16 victory, when Mauvaka received a yellow card for launching himself into Scotland scrumhalf Ben White, who was on the ground.

The citing accuses Mauvaka of striking an opponent with “any part of the arm, shoulder, head, or knee.” The clash happened midway through the first half, with France leading 10-0. Scotland later narrowed the gap to 16-13 before the break.

Scotland coach Gregor Townsend expressed confusion over the decision not to issue a red card. The outcome of Mauvaka’s hearing could see further consequences for the French rake following the contentious moment in an otherwise triumphant night for Les Bleus.
