The 20-minute red card given to Connact flank Josh Murphy for retaliation against the Bulls has been rescinded.

Murphy was sent off after lashing out at Bulls hooker Jan-Hendrik Wessels, who he accused of grabbing his genitals.

Murphy complained to referee Mike Adamson, but there was no conclusive video evidence for the match officials and Wessels remained on the field.

However, on Thursday, Wessels was handed a nine-week ban despite there reportedly being no new video footage available to the URC disciplinary panel.

CONFIRMED: Jan-Hendrik banned for nine weeks

The same panel – Simon Thomas (chairman, Wales), Declan Goodwin (Wales) and Leah Thomas (Wales) – found that while an act of foul play involving Murphy had occurred, it did not meet the red card threshold.

The 20-minute red card was therefore rescinded and Murphy is now available for selection this weekend.
