    The Mother City boasts incredible natural beauty, thus presenting the chance to enjoy different nature activities.

    From majestic mountains to lush greenery and even stunning beaches, nature lovers are often left fulfilled, energized and sometimes even pleasantly surprised.

    Here’s a look at a few of the many nature activities to explore in and around Cape Town:

    Hiking

    Cape Town is a hiker’s dream. It is known for its steep climbs and world-class bouldering, but also offers the opportunity to enjoy a low-effort trek in paradise.

    A number of hiking spots are worth considering, including the scenic and popular Lion’s Head which offers spectacular views of the Mother City. It is ideal for those who seek hikes that range from easy to moderate, and offers breathtaking sunsets as the perfect reward.

    Birding

    Cape Town and its surrounds offer the ideal opportunity to enjoy birding in spaces of great scenic beauty.

    You can spot over 400 bird species, including the Cape Sugarbird, Cape Siskin and Protea Seedeater. A number of spots are worth considering for an excellent birding experience. These include the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and False Bay Nature Reserve.

    Those who visit Cape Town in search of beach bliss are very seldom left disappointed. Areas which are perfect for scenic coastal walks include Kalk Bay, Muizenberg and Boulders Beach.

    Enjoying a walk in these areas is not just about soaking in stunning ocean views, but also about experiencing the vibrant culture, rich history and breathtaking natural beauty.

    Outdoor picnics

    Cape Town boasts an abundance of amazing picnic spots to consider. From wine farms to peaceful parks, you can enjoy both the beauty of nature and the yumminess of your picnic basket goodies.

    Spots to consider include Wynberg Park, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, as well as the Newlands Forest Picnic Area.
