President Cyril Ramaphosa has once again stressed that South Africa will not allow itself to be bullied by either international or domestic actors.

The ANC president made the remarks during the party’s January 8 rally at Moruleng Stadium, just outside Rustenburg in the North West, on Saturday.

Addressing supporters, Ramaphosa used part of his speech to reflect on global political developments, with specific reference to the country’s increasingly strained relations with the United States.

His comments come amid ongoing disagreements between South Africa and the US, with President Donald Trump repeating claims of a so-called “white genocide” in the country.

The ANC leader also issued a strong warning to South African organisations accused of spreading misinformation abroad.

AfriForum and Solidarity have been accused of attempting to influence the Trump administration against South Africa by raising allegations of discrimination against Afrikaner people. Some believe these efforts may have played a role in worsening relations between the two countries.
