When choosing a travel destination, safety is a key concern. Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP) has ranked the world’s safest places to visit in 2025.

When it comes to travel safety, some destinations have consistently stood out. According to the latest BHTP rankings, Canada, Northern Europe, Australia, and New Zealand remain top choices for travellers seeking security. But year over year, the list shifts—sometimes dramatically.

This time, Iceland has surged from ninth place to claim the top spot, while New Zealand rebounded to sixth. The UK and the Netherlands, however, have slipped in the rankings, and Brazil, which made a historic leap last year, has dropped back down.

The rankings are based on traveller surveys, global safety indices, and city-specific data, creating a balanced picture of safety worldwide. But as always, these lists don’t account for sudden crises or regional instability – it’s crucial to stay informed and prepared when planning a trip.
