Pretoria, 21 August 2025 – The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) is proud to announce that it has obtained a clean audit outcome from the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) for the 2024/2025 financial year, following its first clean audit for the 2023/24 financial year.

The AGSA’s audit confirmed the rigour and strengths of SAHPRA’s financial and operational controls as SAHPRA’s financial statements and the selected indicators on reported performance information were found not to have any material misstatements. Furthermore, the AGSA reported that no material non-compliance with selected legislative requirements was identified or any significant deficiencies in internal control.

The audit outcome attests to SAHPRA’s commitment to clean governance and the highest best practice standards.

“We are working tirelessly to put robust systems and processes in place to ensure clean governance which ensured we attain this feat,” says SAHPRA CEO, Dr Boitumelo Semete- Makokotlela, adding that “SAHPRA is committed to maintaining strong governance and financial stewardship as we continue to serve as a world-class African health products regulator that fulfils its public health mandate with excellence”.
