It was another action-packed weekend in the Hollywoodbets Super League as teams battled it out, with title contenders continuing to assert their dominance and mid-table teams pushing to climb the standings across the country on 19 and 20 April, 2025.

Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their flawless run, securing a 2–0 victory over newly-promoted Ezemvelo Women’s FC. The Pretoria-based side showed their class with a well-rounded performance, maintaining their position at the top of the log with a perfect record.

Defender Thato Letsoso scored her first-ever goal for Banyana Ba Style, and she reflects on the game.

“First goal for Mamelodi Sundowns: Very, very first goal of the season, I’m so happy, I’ve been preparing for it throughout pre-season, I’ve practiced it, I’ve trained it, so now to see it actually happen is just motivating to get the next goal.”

Letsoso highlights where they still need to improve: “I think finishing is one of our challenges, but it’s not a difficult challenge to overcome.I think we’re still working on it, we’re still working on finishing, we’re still working on getting goals, so I think we’ll fix it going forward.”

Nonhlanhla Mthandi scored the opener for Sundowns Ladies in the 14th minute.

Meanwhile, Copperbelt Ladies FC proved they are serious title contenders with a 2–1 away win over Royal AM. The visitors showed great composure to come from behind and claim all three points, keeping the pressure on Sundowns as the season progresses.

JVW FC also had reason to celebrate as they delivered a confident 2–0 win against TS Galaxy Queens on Saturday, solidifying their position among the top five. Experienced campaigners Gabriela Salgado and Robyn Moodaly both found the back of the net, the result ending The Rockets’ unbeaten run in 2025.

UWC Ladies bounced back with a strong 2–0 home win over Richmond United, while UCT edged City Lads 2–1 in a spirited away performance that saw them move further up the standings. Thinasonke Mbuli’s side has struggled since the start of the campaign with one victory and two losses.

University of the Western Cape FC were at home for their first win in 2025 in a 2-nil win over Richmond United at the UWC Stadium on Saturday.

Elsewhere, it was a weekend of tight encounters. University of Fort Hare and Durban Ladies played out a goalless draw in Alice, as did UJ and TUT Ladies in a match where both sides struggled to find a breakthrough. The Orange Army are second on the standings two points behind table-toppers Sundowns.

First Touch Ladies and the University of Pretoria shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw, with both teams showing flashes of attacking intent but unable to take full control of the game at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

With midweek action returning this afternoon, all eyes will be on Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies as they host Royal AM, looking to stretch their winning streak. The pressure is mounting on teams in the chasing pack as the season edges closer to its halfway mark.

As it stands, the title race remains wide open, but the gap between the leaders and the rest of the pack is starting to grow. With form, fitness, and depth all coming into play, the next few weeks could prove crucial for teams with championship or top-four ambitions.
