The 27-country list does not mean travellers can enter without any formalities. Some destinations require permits or other documents despite being visa-free. For example, Bhutan requires an entry permit and Fiji requires a visit permit on arrival.

Indians have several destinations where they can travel without obtaining a visa before departure. According to the Ministry of External Affairs data, 27 countries provide visa-free entry to travellers in 2026, while 47 offer visa-on-arrival facilities and 66 provide e-Visa.

Asia Offers Several Visa-Free Options

Bhutan and Nepal remain among the most accessible destinations for travellers. Bhutan does not require a visa, although visitors need an entry permit. Nepal has no limitations for Indians. Thailand allows visa-free stays of up to 30 days, while Kazakhstan permits stays of up to 14 days. Malaysia is allowing visitors visa-free entry for up to 30 days until December 2026.

Other regional destinations include Macau, where Indians can stay visa-free for up to 30 days, and Iran, which allows Indians to enter without a visa for up to 15 days once every six months.

Mauritius permits travellers to stay visa-free for up to 90 days. Seychelles is listed as visa-free, while Fiji permits stays of up to 120 days, although visitors must obtain a visit permit on arrival. The Cook Islands allows visa-free travel for up to 31 days and Niue for up to 30 days.

In the Caribbean and Americas, Barbados, Grenada, Haiti, Dominica, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Jamaica, and Saint Kitts and Nevis are among the destinations listed. Permitted stays vary, with several allowing visits of up to 90 days.

African options include Senegal, Gambia and Angola. Senegal and Gambia allow visa-free stays of up to 90 days, while Angola permits Indians to stay for up to 30 days.

Check Entry Rules Before Travel

Travel rules can change based on bilateral arrangements, passport type, purpose of travel and permitted duration. Travellers should therefore verify the latest requirements with the destination’s immigration authority or MEA before travel. Travellers should carry required documents and confirm accommodation and onward travel arrangements.

The MEA data shows that visa-free access is only one part of India’s international travel arrangements. Together with visa-on-arrival and e-Visa facilities, Indians have access to a wider network of destinations without needing a conventional visa application before every trip abroad.
