The Uganda High Commission in Dar es Salaam, in partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), has officially welcomed a delegation of tour companies and travel trade partners from Mauritius for a week-long familiarisation safari aimed at showcasing Uganda’s premier tourism attractions.

First Secretary and Accounting Officer at the Mission, Laura Kahuga, extended a warm welcome, highlighting Uganda’s status as a top destination for adventure, wildlife, and cultural experiences.

“We are delighted to welcome you to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. Please feel at home as you embark on this exciting journey, exploring our remarkable tourism sites and experiencing the warmth, culture, and hospitality that define Uganda,” Kahuga said.

Upon arrival in Kampala, the delegation enjoyed a vibrant Cultural Night at the Ndere Cultural Centre, featuring traditional music, dance performances, storytelling, and iconic Ugandan dishes such as matooke, nakati, and kalo.

The week-long itinerary includes rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a visit to the majestic Murchison Falls, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park, and a culminating gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

According to UTB, the initiative is designed to strengthen Uganda’s visibility and competitiveness in the Southern African tourism market, fostering partnerships with Mauritian travel operators and positioning Uganda as a leading choice for adventure, wildlife, and cultural tourism.

The High Commission emphasized that the familiarisation safari is part of broader efforts to increase international tourist arrivals and showcase Uganda’s unique natural and cultural attractions globally.
