Africa Energy Indaba 2026 Delivers Presidential Vision and Concrete Commitments – Momentum Builds for 2027 Edition

The 18th Africa Energy Indaba (3–5 March 2026) concluded with strong continental participation and tangible outcomes that underscore its position as Africa’s premier platform for energy investment, policy alignment, and deal-making.  A highlight of the event was the Presidential Keynote Address by H.E. President Cyril Ramaphosa, who emphasised the urgent need for energy security, regional cooperation, and pragmatic strategies to harness Africa’s vast solar, wind, hydro, gas, and critical mineral resources. President Ramaphosa stressed that Africa must meet its own development needs while positioning itself as a competitive global energy player.

Key announcements and partnerships emerging from the 2026 Indaba include:

    • The Rockefeller Foundation’s additional US$10 million commitment to Mission 300, supporting the goal of connecting 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030.
    • A Memorandum of Understanding signed between South Africa’s Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) and Rosatom focused on nuclear skills development, training, and research.
    • High-level discussions advancing the Ten-Year Africa Energy Infrastructure Investment Plan, regional power pools, and cross-border infrastructure.

The event attracted ministers, utilities, investors, project developers, and industry leaders from across Africa and beyond, reinforcing the Indaba’s role as the place where policy meets projects and ambition turns into actionable outcomes.  Building on this success, the 19th Africa Energy Indaba returns to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 2–4 March 2027.

“Following the landmark outcomes of 2026, we are already seeing increased momentum,” said Liz Hart, Managing Director of the Africa Energy Indaba.   “The 2027 edition will provide an even stronger platform for stakeholders to forge partnerships, secure investment, and accelerate Africa’s just energy transition while driving industrialisation and economic growth.”
