South Sudan is awaiting a decision from the UNESCO World Heritage Committee after submitting its first-ever nomination, the Badingilo Migratory Landscape, for inscription on the World Heritage List

The Minister of Culture, Museums and National Heritage, Sarah Nyanath Elijah, said the nomination file has been submitted and will be considered by the committee during its session in Busan, South Korea, next month

Speaking upon her return from Paris, France, the minister said the submission was made jointly with the Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, Denay Jock Chagor

If endorsed by the committee, the nominated site would become South Sudan’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, a landmark recognition expected to boost the country’s conservation efforts and international profile

The nomination also marks a significant step in South Sudan’s campaign to safeguard its natural and <a href="https://absafricatv.com/cultural-heritage-under-fire-the-impact-of-conflict-in-iran/" title="Cultural Heritage Under Fire: The Impact of Conflict in Iran”>cultural heritage under UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention

The government has described the submission as a reflection of its commitment to preserving the country’s heritage while promoting it on the global stage
