    • Morocco is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Israel Aerospace Industries for LORA missiles.
    • Israeli newspaper Calcalist disclosed the talks on 8 October, citing defence sources.
    • IAI publishes a range of 90–430km for its surface-to-surface LORA system.
    • Neither an acquisition contract nor the proposed order’s value and quantities have been publicly confirmed.

The discussions involve Israel Aerospace Industries and its LORA system, a precision-strike weapon that the manufacturer says can reach targets up to 430 kilometres away.

The reported negotiations concern a different capability from the air-defence systems and drone technology already associated with Morocco’s expanding Israeli military partnership.

According to Calcalist’sreport published on 8 October, defenceed stage.” The newspaper did not establish the value of the proposed transaction

IAI describes LORA as an all-weather, surface-to-surface missile system that can operate from mobile land launchers or maritime platforms.

Its official product specifications list a range of 90–430 kilometres and guidance combining satellite positioning with inertial navigation. The manufacturer identifies military infrastructure among its intended target categories.

IAI also publishes an accuracy figure of approximately 10 metres, expressed as circular error probable, a standard measure of how closely missiles are expected to land around an intended aim point.

Air-defence systems seek to intercept incoming threats, LORA is designed to strike targets on the ground. Acquiring it would therefore add another type of capability to Morocco’s arsenal.

Morocco restored diplomatic relations with Israel in 2020 under the US-backed Abraham Accords, opening the way for closer commercial and security cooperation.

The relationship has since expanded into air defence, surveillance and local drone production. The Barak MX air-defence agreement and BlueBird Aero Systems’ manufacturing presence in Morocco illustrate the growing scope of cooperation.

That existing relationship provides the commercial background to the LORA discussions, but does not confirm that a further purchase has been agreed.

The disclosure also coincided with IAI’s participation in the 7–10 October Marrakech Air Show, where it displayed LORA alongside other aerospace and defence products. An exhibition appearance creates an opportunity for negotiations; it is not itself evidence of an order.

For Morocco, the potential purchase would extend its relationship with an established supplier into another weapons category. For IAI, it would represent additional business in a market where it already has significant military partnerships.
