The city of Oran (Algeria) will host the 2026 African Archery Championships from 21-26 July. It is the 15th edition of the event, with the previous championships held in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) in 2025.

For the first time, the championships will feature recurve under-18 and under-21 categories, adding to a busy competition programme that already includes senior barebow men and women, along with para recurve and compound events for men and women.

For under-18 archers hoping to compete at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Game in November, the championships provide another opportunity to achieve the minimum qualification score required for selection by their National Olympic Committee.

The event will be held at the Mediterranean Village, a sprawling sports and accommodation complex built for the 2022 Mediterranean Games.

Three of the four senior individual champions in recurve and compound from Abidjan 2025 return to defend their titles, and you can watch live coverage of the weekend’s finals free of charge on archery+.
