Miracle Herron, a 23-year-old DoorDash driver in Houston, unintentionally got caught in the middle of a police pursuit while trying to do her job. She has since received praise for her extraordinary dedication to her work after completing the delivery of the meal order despite getting hit by a car during the trip.
Per surveillance footage captured by a nearby residence, Herron was seen waiting inside her orange vehicle directly in front of the home where she was scheduled to deliver the food.
A grey car hit her as she was getting out of her car. The driver of the vehicle quickly left the area on foot and headed in the opposite direction.
“I heard cars screeching, wheels screeching, and police sirens, but I thought it was on the main roads, not coming my way,” Herron told ABC 7.

Later, it was discovered that the driver of the grey car was trying to get away from the police when Herron was hit Police cruisers could be seen in surveillance footage arriving shortly as officers started chasing the escaping suspect
After the crash, Herron recovered the lunch and took it to the resident’s door in an amazing show of resilience.
“I was just trying to make sure that person got their food. I didn’t want them to think I stole it. I was just trying to get my bills paid,” Herron recalled.
Fortunately, Herron did not suffer any injuries, but she is still recovering from some aches and pains.
“I do feel like it was a miracle that I made it out of that situation alive and that I didn’t have any broken bones or anything,” Herron recalled.
Like many other young people currently balancing multiple jobs, Herron works full-time at a call center and does DoorDash deliveries on the side. She explained that this side hustle has been essential for helping her make ends meet.

However, Herron noted that her career as a delivery driver has probably come to an end after this traumatic incident.
The resident whose security camera recorded the crash, Lilly Portillo, said she hoped DoorDash would acknowledge Herron’s actions in some way.
“Maybe somebody could reward her or something. Poor lady. At the end of the day, she did deliver the food, though,” Portillo told KSLA.
Meanwhile, police identified the suspect as Torrence Whitaker, who was recorded on camera racing through numerous backyards. In the end, a police K-9 caught him, preventing his attempt to flee.
Whitaker is being held in detention and faces several charges.
