VOVE ID launches compliance readiness program for African startups

a Morocco-based compliance infrastructure company, has opened applications for a programme that will help African startups assess weaknesses in their customer onboarding, fraud prevention and regulatory compliance systems

The VOVE Compliance Infrastructure Program will select six to eight startups operating in regulated or trust-sensitive sectors for tailored assessments covering Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), anti-money laundering (AML), fraud prevention, governance and audit readiness. Applications close on August 20, after which selected startups will participate in a compliance workshop and one-on-one readiness reviews.

The program launch comes as African regulators move to tighten anti-money laundering controls and transaction monitoring requirements. In March, Nigeria’s Central Bank formally recognised artificial intelligence as a tool for monitoring financial crime. In January, South Africa’s National Treasury published an anti-money laundering draft bill after exiting the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) greylist in October 2025.

“Founders do not need another compliance lecture. They need a practical way to understand what matters now, what evidence they should maintain, and what to fix before growth creates pressure,” said Khalid Aoussar, founder of VOVE ID. “The VOVE Compliance Infrastructure Program is designed to help startups turn KYC, KYB, compliance, and fraud controls into practical infrastructure for trust, security, and growth.”

Launched in 2024 by Aoussar Khalid, Tarik Ait M’barek, Youssef Saber, and Mohammed Kamal, VOVE ID provides compliance infrastructure for regulated and trust-sensitive businesses, such as fintechs and payment companies, across Africa, the Middle East, and international markets.

Its platform provides identity verification, business verification, beneficial ownership checks, AML screening, risk workflows, ongoing monitoring, and audit-ready recordkeeping through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and Software Development Kits (SDKs).

The VOVE Compliance Infrastructure Program is the company’s first public cohort, bringing together a live webinar, a standardised compliance readiness assessment, and one-on-one reviews with selected startups.

Participants will complete a 24-question Startup Compliance Readiness Assessment built around six compliance infrastructure pillars before attending a private review with VOVE ID. Each startup will then receive a personalised readiness report highlighting priority gaps alongside a recommended roadmap outlining priorities for the next 30, 60, and 90 days, according to the company.

VOVE ID said it is targeting live or near-launch companies across Africa and other emerging markets that are building in sectors including fintech, digital lending, payments, wallets, stablecoins and crypto ramps, marketplaces, iGaming, mobility, trading platforms, cross-border commerce, and regulated SaaS.

The company noted that it would only select startups that have a defined product or business model and an existing or near-term need around customer onboarding, KYC, KYB, AML, fraud prevention, banking, licencing, partnerships, fundraising, or market expansion for the program.

VOVE ID said it launched the programme after observing that many startups discover their compliance shortcomings when investors or regulators begin due diligence.

“The programme gives startups a practical way to assess these foundations earlier, particularly as they prepare for banking, fundraising, partnerships, licencing, or market expansion,” the company said.

True scale demands moving beyond surface-level integrations to robust execution. We’ve filtered the noise out of Moonshot 2026, optimising the conference strictly for high-calibre connections between startup founders, global financial operators, enterprise leaders and individuals rewiring Africa’s technical frameworks.
