The Young Progressives Party, YPP, on Monday intensified its preparations for the 2027 general elections with the inauguration of its new Lagos State Secretariat on Opebi Road, Ikeja, and the reception of new members into its fold.
The development, party leaders said, marked a significant milestone in the YPP’s efforts to strengthen its organisational structure, deepen grassroots mobilisation and position itself as ae next electoral cycle
The inauguration attracted party leaders, stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers and newly admitted members from different parts of Lagos State, who pledged to work together to expand the party’s reach across the state.
Speaking at the event, a member of the YPP Board of Trustees and presidential aspirant, Olajide Filani, said the party remained committed to rescuing Nigeria through purposeful leadership, inclusive governance and sustainable economic development.
According to him, the YPP has built a solid organisational structure capable of driving national growth while offering Nigerians a credible alternative founded on discipline, accountability and good governance.
“The YPP is systematically structured to rescue this nation and put it firmly on the path of genuine growth and economic development.»
“Our commitment is to build a system that delivers inclusive governance and creates opportunities for every Nigerian, irrespective of background or political affiliation.»
“The influx of experienced political leaders into our party today is a clear indication that our message is resonating across the political spectrum and that Nigerians desire genuine change,” Filani said.
Addressing members on behalf of the party leadership, Filani said the state chairman remained committed to strengthening the party’s structures across Lagos and expanding its grassroots support base.
He described the newly inaugurated secretariat as more than a physical office, saying it would serve as the party’s operational headquarters for planning, coordination and mobilisation across the state.
“This secretariat is more than a building. It is a symbol of our operational readiness and our determination to deepen democratic participation across Lagos State.
“We are bringing together seasoned political operatives and young progressive minds to build a platform that truly serves the interests of the people.
“Our objective is to create a disciplined political movement that will inspire confidence and deliver a new direction for Nigeria,” he added.
Filani urged the new members to remain committed to the party’s ideals and actively strengthen its structures at the ward and local government levels, stressing that unity, discipline and sustained grassroots engagement would be critical to the party’s electoral success.
He expressed confidence that the growing support for the YPP would translate into improved electoral performance in future elections, noting that the influx of experienced politicians reflected increasing confidence in the party’s vision.
He further called on Nigerians, particularly young people and professionals, to participate actively in the democratic process by joining political movements committed to transparency, accountability and national development.
Speaking on behalf of the new members, Mr. Oludare Falade said they joined the YPP because of its commitment to youth inclusion, internal democracy and the atmosphere of peace within the party.
“Our trust, confidence and faith in this party is because of its belief in the youth population. The peace within the party is also a motivation.
“We assure the leadership of the party of our determination to stand by the party and promote its ideals across the state ahead of the 2027 elections,” Falade said.
