Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved the first phase of funding for the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu after she publicly appealed for financial assistance to undergo multiple surgeries.

The intervention comes days after the 62-year-old actress, who hails from Abia State, revealed that she requires three surgeries and needs about ₦30 million to cover the cost of her treatment.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Okey Justice, announced the approval in a post on X, describing the move as a timely intervention by the state government.

“His Excellency @alexottiofr have just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills,” he wrote.

Justice expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for responding to the actress’s plight but noted that the approved funds represent only part of the total amount required for her treatment.

He appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to continue supporting the actress financially to enable her complete the remaining surgeries.

“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible you can,” he said.

The governor’s aide also conveyed the appreciation of members of the creative industry for the intervention, describing it as a significant gesture of support for one of Nollywood’s veteran performers.

“On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir,” he added.
