Every May, we commemorate Africa Month, marking a time when the colours of African heritage and the bright promise of its future are brought to the forefront through vibrant celebrations. This year, we’re thrilled to spotlight these celebrations to a global audience through a few programs, including a collaboration with the Office Of The African Union Chairperson’s Youth Envoy to invite the world to #DiscoverMyAfrica through the power of YouTube Shorts.

Here are 4 ways to join the celebrations

    Get Ready to #DiscoverMyAfrica

Imagine a month-long digital party where YouTube Shorts creators from across Africa share bite-sized glimpses into their world – think mouthwatering food, vibrant fashion, infectious music, breathtaking travel, and everything in between. There is a trending songs playlist to help creators spark their creativity

Want to join the fun? Follow the #DiscoverMyAfrica hashtag on YouTube and social media to watch the videos and learn more about Africa. Even better, head over to YouTube to create a Short of your own showcasing your best of Africa and share it with the world!

The Heartbeat of Africa: Two Playlists to Celebrate Africa Month

Music is the lifeblood of Africa, and this month we’re turning up the volume with two playlists on YouTube Music. “Africa’s Next Wave” puts the spotlight on emerging talent pushing boundaries and redefining sounds, and “Africa Superstars” celebrates the iconic voices that have made the continent a global music powerhouse. Together, these playlists showcase the incredible diversity and dynamism of African music. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a curious newcomer, these playlists are your invitation to discover the rhythmic pulse of Africa.

These intimate events will showcase the artists who have propelled Afrobeats and Amapiano to global recognition, alongside passionate fans who have embraced these genres as their own. Experience live performances, candid conversations, and a shared celebration of the cultural impact and global reach of African music

Premieres, Meet & Greets and Workshops

The festivities extend beyond the screen, too. In Nigeria, your favourite superstars are bringing the heat with exclusive premieres on YouTube:

    • Osas Ighodaro: Indulge in the luxurious side of Lagos with “Spa with Osas.”
