Storage Central, a self-storage operator in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, has initiated a $9 million equity investment round to expand its presence in the region. The company intends to invite a select group of equity partners to fund the acquisition and development of three facilities in Nairobi.

The company’s goal is to create a scalable portfolio of income-generating real estate assets that cater to households, entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, and corporate clients. To achieve this, Storage Central has identified potential building sites and plans to collaborate with local Kenyan real estate developers.

“We believe self-storage will become an essential part of East Africa’s urban infrastructure,” said cofounder Gerardo Segura. “Our ambition is not simply to develop additional facilities but to build the region’s leading self-storage platform, one that delivers long-term value to customers, investors and the communities we serve.”

Storage Central has also established an exit strategy by engaging with institutional investors that have expressed interest in the brand, including a real estate investment trust and two pension funds.

Storage Central opened its flagship property on Mombasa Road in 2020, offering 83,958 square feet of storage space in more than 850 units.
