Applications are now open for the Africa Health Collaborative (AHC) Research Fund 2026, an initiative supporting collaborative research led by Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from AHC member institutions. The fund aims to strengthen research capacity, foster international collaboration, and generate evidence that improves Health Human Reacross Sub-Saharan Africa
The programme encourages bilateral and multilateral partnerships among AHC member institutions, while promoting the involvement of master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral researchers in high-impact health systems research.
Research Focus Areas
Projects should address one or more of the following themes:
- Primary Health Care
- Health Human Resources Policy
- Health Financing Policy
- Health Systems Strengthening
- Public Health Research
- Collaborative Research
- Research Capacity Development
Eligibility Criteria
- Be an Early Career Researcher (ECR) affiliated with an AHC member institution.
- Submit a collaborative proposal involving at least two AHC member institutions.
- Include master’s, doctoral, or postdoctoral trainees in the research team.
- Ensure the Principal Investigator is from an AHC member institution. External collaborators may participate but cannot serve as Principal Investigators.
Eligible AHC member institutions include:
- Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia)
- African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (South Africa)
- African Leadership University (Rwanda)
- Amref International University (Kenya)
- Ashesi University (Ghana)
- Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana)
- Moi University (Kenya)
- University of Cape Town (South Africa)
- University of Toronto (Canada)
Funding
Successful applicants will receive funding based on the type of collaboration:
- Bilateral projects: Up to USD 22,000 (USD 11,000 per participating institution)
- Multilateral projects: USD 11,000 per participating institution
Up to nine projects will be funded for a maximum implementation period of 18 months.

- Other approved project-related expenses

Applications are now open for the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Grant to implement the initiative “Leveraging IFAD’s Rural Sector Performance Assessment (RSPA) for Policy and Investment.” The grant supports organizations working to strengthen rural development policies, improve investment planning, and generate evidence that drives sustainable agricultural and rural transformation.
The initiative aims to enhance rural sector policy assessment by supporting research, technical analysis, and knowledge generation that informs government policies and investment decisions.

Applicants must demonstrate strong technical expertise and institutional experience in rural development, policy analysis, research, and knowledge management.
Projects should contribute to one or more of the following areas:

- Sustainable development
- Food systems
The grant seeks to support initiatives that will:
- Improve rural sector policy frameworks

Successful applicants can receive up to USD 1.2 million to implement projects aligned with IFAD’s rural development priorities. Selected organizations must provide a counterpart contribution of at least 20% of the grant amount, while private sector institutions are required to contribute 25%. In-kind contributions may also be considered.

Call for Applications: YouthConnekt Africa Export Accelerator 2026 Supports Young Entrepreneurs to Expand Across African Markets
Applications are now open for the YouthConnekt Africa Export Accelerator 2026, a growth-focused programme designed to support young entrepreneurs with established businesses who are ready to expand beyond their domestic markets and explore opportunities across Africa.
The Export Accelerator is designed to help youth-led enterprises strengthen their export readiness, improve competitiveness and overcome some of the challenges involved in expanding into new African markets.
The 2026 programme is open to young entrepreneurs and youth-led businesses in Rwanda, Uganda, Senegal, The Gambia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The initiative is implemented by YouthConnekt Africa in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the African Union (AU) and aligns with efforts to increase youth participation in intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
What the YouthConnekt Africa Export Accelerator Offers
Selected entrepreneurs will receive support designed to help them prepare their businesses for regional expansion and cross-border trade.
The programme will focus on helping participating businesses:
- Strengthen their export capacity and readiness.
- Prepare to enter new African markets.
- Improve their competitiveness.
- Navigate customs and regulatory requirements.
- Overcome non-tariff barriers to trade.
- Improve access to finance and investment opportunities.
- Build stronger regional business networks.
- Expand their operations across African markets.
The programme will also provide tailored enterprise support based on the specific needs, growth potential and export readiness of participating businesses.
Who Can Apply?
The YouthConnekt Africa Export Accelerator 2026 is designed for young entrepreneurs who:
- Are under 35 years old.
- Are from Rwanda, Uganda, Senegal, The Gambia, Zambia or Zimbabwe.
- Own or operate an already established business.
- Have a business that is ready to explore expansion beyond the domestic market.
- Are interested in building a competitive enterprise capable of participating in intra-African trade.
The programme is intended for entrepreneurs who are ready to grow their businesses beyond their home markets. It is not designed for applicants who are only seeking grants.
How to Apply
Interested young entrepreneurs should complete the official application and diagnostic form.
Applicants are encouraged to provide accurate information about their businesses, current operations, growth plans and export ambitions.
Eligible entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply and take advantage of the opportunity to prepare their businesses for expansion into new African markets.
Call for Applications: Africa Fundraising Incubator (AFI) 2026 Offers Training, Up to $5,000 in Matching Funds and Free Fiscal Sponsorship to African Organisations
The New Africa Fund (NAF) has opened applications for the 2026 Africa Fundraising Incubator (AFI), a multi-stage capacity-building programme designed to help African organisations develop sustainable fundraising pipelines and strengthen their institutional capacity.
The programme is open to organisations registered in any of the 54 African Union member states.
The Africa Fundraising Incubator, previously known as the Africa Impact Fundraising Grant (AIFG), will equip participating organisations with practical skills, reorts, broaden their reach and deepen their impact
What the AFI 2026 Programme Offers
Selected organisations will participate in specialised online training focused on the foundational skills required to run successful small-donor fundraising campaigns.
As part of the programme, participants will also take part in a 30-day fundraising challenge. During this period, organisations will launch live fundraising campaigns and have the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 in matching funds from the New Africa Fund.
Participating organisations will also receive 12 months of free fiscal sponsorship from the New Africa Fund, with the possibility of an extension.
Top-performing organisations will be invited to an all-expenses-paid, week-long in-person boot camp in Kigali, Rwanda. The intensive training will focus on fundraising and leadership development, with sessions covering financial management, marketing, communications, grant writing, donor research, donor cultivation and retention, individual donor campaigns and local fundraising strategies.
The programme may also provide additional performance-based fundraising opportunities as it develops.
Eligibility for the Africa Fundraising Incubator
The programme is open to organisations that are legally registered in one of the 54 African Union member states.
Applicants should prepare the following documents before completing the application:
- The organisation’s registration document
- The organisation’s most recent external audit
Organisations without an external audit may submit five months of financial statements for all accounts instead.
The New Africa Fund has stated that it does not charge application fees for its grant programmes. Applicants should be cautious of anyone claiming to represent the organisation and requesting payment to submit an application.

Applications for the Africa Fundraising Incubator 2026 close on August 14, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. UTC.
