The <a href="https://absafricatv.com/novo-nordisk-to-launch-cheaper-ozempic-copy-in-south-africa/” title=”Novo Nordisk to launch cheaper Ozempic copy in South Africa”>South African Police Service is confident in its case against alleged crime boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his four co-accused as their trial commences in the Johannesburg High Court.
Matlala, along with his wife Tsakani Matlala, Tiego Floyd Mabusela, Musa Kekana, and Nthabiseng Nzama, faces a total of 25 criminal charges stemming from three separate alleged botched assassination attempts that took place between August 2022 and January 2024.
The trial of Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his four co-accused has begun in the Johannesburg High Court, with the charges against them including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of unlicensed firearms, and money laundering.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe stated that alleged triggermen Mabusela and Kekana have been linked to approximately 30 serious and violent crimes in Gauteng.
“We do believe that we have broken the back of a syndicate of well-trained, highly specialised hitmen that were terrorising communities in and around Gauteng. If you look at Cat Matlala, he has not received bail since his arrest because we have done so much work as the PKTT, as well as Gauteng organised crime and Gauteng counter-intelligence. We are confident that the case we are bringing before court will hopefully lead to lengthy sentences,” Mathe said.
