    Nairobi, 23 July, 2026 / 12:49 pm (ACI Africa).

TheAssociation of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa(ACWECA) has pledged closer collaboration with theAssociation of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa(AMECEA) in accompanying young people, expressing support for the regional Bishops’ commitment to making youths the focus of their synodal journey.

In a solidarity message delivered on Wednesday, July 22 during the the21st AMECEA Plenary Assemblyat theCatholic University of Eastern Africa(CUEA) in theCatholic Archdiocese of Nairobi(ADN),ACWECA President, Sr.Grace Kyomugisha, described the Assembly’s focus on young people as a timely response to the challenges the region faces.

“At a time when our region faces deep social, economic, political, and ecological challenges, your focus on young people as the driving force for transformation is both timely and deeply inspired,” Sr. Kyomugisha said.

She assured Catholic Bishops in Eastern Africa of ACWECA’s solidarity, saying, “As your sisters in Christ, ACWECA stands in complete solidarity with this vision. We believe that true Synodality, walking, listening, and discerning together, demands an intentional partnership between the hierarchy, the Consecrated men and women, and the Laity.”

Highlighting the longstanding relationship between ACWECA and AMECEA, the Superior General of theSisters of Our Lady of Good Counsel of Mbarara(OLGC) in Uganda expressed the association’s commitment to strengthening that collaboration as the Church advances the implementation of theFinal Documentof the multi-yearSynod on Synodality.
