Celebs cook up chaos: Verushka Singh, Lasizwe and more stars join ‘Come Dine With Me SA’

Former Mrs South Africa Verushka Singh, along with media personalities Lasizwe, Linda Mtoba and Moonchild Sanelly, are swapping the spotlight for the dinner table as Come Dine With Me South Africa serves its first-ever celebrity season.
The beauty queen is among 24 South African personalities who will open their homes, plan ambitious menus and put their hosting skills to the test when the hit show returns for its 11th season.
For the first time, the entire season of the popular dinner-party competition will be dedicated to celebrities, with the cast competing for bragging rights and R10 000 for charity.
Joining them are singer Holly Rey, actors Mampho Brescia and Tumisho Masha, TV personality Moshe Ndiki, illustrator Karabo Poppy and broadcaster Lethabo ‘LeJoy’ Mathatho. Also in the line-up are Carol Tshabalala, Brent Lindeque, Jonathan Roxmouth, Karabo Ntshweng, Mojak Lehoko, Nianell, Olwethu Leshabane, Philicity Reeken, Primo Baloyi, Tarina Patel, Vanes-Mari du Toit, Yanda Woods, Zandi Nhlapo and Alphi Mkhwanazi.
Over six weeks, the celebrities will tackle extravagant themes, ambitious menus, and the pressure of hosting fellow famous faces, with kitchen disasters, creative rule-bending, and competitive dinner-party tactics expected along the way.
And, of course, there will be one familiar voice ready to put it all into perspective. Dave Lamb returns as narrator, bringing his trademark razor-sharp observations and ruthless takedowns to the celebrity dinner table.
Vice president for Africa at BBC Studios, Pierre Cloete, said the celebrity series would put an “incredible mix” of South African personalities in situations they cannot completely control.
“Audiences will see them at their funniest, most competitive and, in some cases, most chaotic,” he said.
“It’s packed with laughs, surprises and more than a few moments people will be talking about long after the credits roll.”
Rapid Blue Executive Producer Ryan Deacon added that having three celebrity guests at each dinner party would mean the pressure would be higher than ever, as the celebrities discover that hosting is not as easy as it seems.
“There was some creative rule-bending, a few attempts to gain advantage, some spectacular hosting and the occasional disaster,” he said.
“In other words, all the ingredients that make Come Dine With Me such brilliant television.”
