Citizens Financial Group has appointed Rajesh Mani as Managing Director of its Global Capability Center (GCC) in India, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to expanding its technology capabilities and accelerating innovation through its global operations.

Mani joins the US-based financial institution with more than two decades of experience in financial services and technology, having led large-scale global technology organisations across the payments and fintech sectors.

Most recently, he served as Head of Asia Pacific Tech Hubs at Mastercard, where he oversaw globally distributed teams and drove innovation across complex technology ecosystems.

In his new role, Mani will lead the continued growth of CFG India, with a focus on scaling talent and strengthening organisational capabilities. He will also build a high-performing operation that works closely with Citizens’ teams across the United States and its global technology partners.

    Innovation and engineering excellence

Announcing the appointment, Michael Ruttledge, Chief Information Officer and Head of Enterprise Technology & Security at Citizens, said Mani’s leadership would play a pivotal role in the company’s long-term technology strategy.

“Rajesh is an exceptional leader with a proven ability to build and scale high-performing global organizations,” he quoted.

“His leadership will be instrumental in helping us build a world-class Global Capability Center that plays a central role in driving innovation, strengthening our engineering excellence, and shaping the future of our company,” he also mentioned.

Building the next phase of CFG India

Mani said, “I’m excited to join CFG India at such a pivotal moment in its continuing transformation. CFG India represents a unique opportunity to build a Global Capability Center that is helping define the future of banking.”

“What stands out is the commitment to investing in talent, empowering teams, and creating an environment where people can grow, innovate, and deliver real outcomes at an enterprise level.”

“Given India’s strength in GCCs, I look forward to working with the government, industry bodies and academia to further broaden and deepen CFG India’s impact within the ecosystem,” he concluded.

CFG India plays a central role in advancing Citizens Financial Group’s long-term strategy to build a more modern, resilient and technology-driven banking organisation.

The centre supports the bank in serving millions of consumer, business and institutional clients across the United States.
