Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has appointed David Burton as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), strengthening its technology leadership as the company accelerates global expansion, digital transformation, and next-generation data centre innovation.
In his new role, Burton will lead Colt DCS’ global technology and security teams, overseeing IT strategy, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and enterprise technology initiatives. He will play a key role in building secure, scalable, and future-ready digital infrastructure to support the company’s expanding global operations and growing customer base.
The appointment comes as Colt DCS continues to invest in data centre capacity, AI-ready infrastructure, cloud connectivity, and sustainable digital infrastructure to meet rising enterprise demand worldwide.
Brings More Than Two Decades of Global Technology Leadership
David Burton brings over 25 years of international experience spanning digital transformation, cloud computing, cybersecurity, enterprise IT, virtualisation, research and development, and global technology operations.
Prior to joining Colt DCS, he served as Group Director of Information at Global Switch Data Centres, where he led the company’s digital strategy, strengthened its cybersecurity framework, and implemented technology initiatives that supported business growth across multiple international markets.
Throughout his career, Burton has successfully delivered large-scale digital transformation programmes across diverse industries, building expertise in enterprise technology management, IT service delivery, cloud infrastructure, and technology innovation.
Expanding Data Centre and AI Infrastructure
Burton joins Colt DCS at a strategic time as the company continues expanding its international footprint to support growing demand for AI workloads, cloud services, and high-performance digital infrastructure.
In recent months, Colt DCS has announced several initiatives aimed at strengthening its global operations, including leadership appointments to support expansion in Japan and continued investments in AI-ready data centre infrastructure.
Alongside its growth strategy, the company is also advancing its sustainability agenda. Colt DCS recently reported a 27% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 compared with its 2019 baseline, reinforcing its commitment to building environmentally sustainable data centres.
With Burton leading its technology organisation, Colt DCS aims to further strengthen its digital capabilities while supporting customers with secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for the evolving digital economy.
