Popular South Sudanese musician Deng James, also known as Single Dee, has been nominated for the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), earning his second nomination at one of Africa’s leading music award platforms.
Single Dee is competing in the Best Male East Africa Artist category alongside Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Kenya’s Bien, Uganda’s Joshua Baraka and Eddy Kenzo, and Ethiopia’s Lij Michael.
Reacting to the nomination, Single Dee expressed excitement and called on his fans to support him by voting.
“I’m very excited. I don’t even know how to express myself. I woke up this morning feeling like a superstar because I found out I had been nominated for the AFRIMMA Best Male Artist in East Africa award. So, you know what to do, go to the link, vote for Single Dee, and let’s bring it home,” he said.
The nomination marks another milestone for Deng James, whose music continues to gain recognition across Africa.
Single Dee was first nominated for the AFRIMMA Awards in 2025 in the Best Regional Artist category.
Dynamic and John Frog are the only other South Sudanese musicians to have received AFRIMMA nominations.
The latest nomination highlights the growing presence of South Sudanese music in Africa’s entertainment industry as local artists continue to gain international recognition despite the country’s young music sector.
Founded in 2014, the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) celebrate African musicians and music industry professionals while promoting African music globally.
The 2026 awards ceremony is scheduled for September 12 in Dallas, Texas, USA, and fan voting is currently underway.
