From 211 nations that began the journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the tournament is now down to its final 32 teams, with four Leeds United stars still in contention

Ao Tanaka, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okafor have all helped guide their countries into the knockout stages, with each now just one victory away from a place in the last 16

Here’s how their countries have fared so far and how supporters can follow their progress

    JAPAN (AO TANAKA)

Ao Tanaka and Japan take centre stage first when they face Brazil on Monday 29 June, with kick-off at 6pm BST at Houston Stadium

Japan booked their place in the last 32 after finishing second in Group F. Hajime Moriyasu’s side opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands, before a commanding 4-0 victory over Tunisia and a 1-1 draw with Sweden secured qualification

Standing in their way is five-time world champions Brazil, but victory would see Tanaka and Japan progress to a last-16 meeting with either Ivory Coast or Norway

    SWEDEN (GABRIEL GUDMUNDSSON)

Gabriel Gudmundsson’s Sweden return to action on Tuesday 30 June, taking on France with a 10pm BST kick-off at New York New Jersey Stadium

The Swedes finished third in Group F, recording an impressive 5-1 victory over Tunisia, drawing 1-1 with Japan before losing to the Netherlands

A win over France would earn Gudmundsson’s side a place in the last 16 against either Germany or Paraguay

    USA (BRENDEN AARONSON)

Brenden Aaronson and the tournament hosts, the United States, are next in action when they face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday 2 July at 1am BST at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium

The USA impressed throughout the group stage, topping Group D after victories over Australia and Paraguay to book their place in the knockout rounds

Should Aaronson and his teammates overcome Bosnia-Herzegovina, they will face either Belgium or Senegal in the last 16

    SWITZERLAND (NOAH OKAFOR)

The final Leeds United representative in action is Noah Okafor, whose Switzerland side meet Algeria on Friday 3 July, kicking off at 4am BST at BC Place, Vancouver

Switzerland topped Group B after collecting seven points, defeating Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina before drawing with Qatar

Victory over Algeria would set up a last-16 clash against either Colombia or Ghana as Okafor looks to continue Switzerland’s impressive campaign
