Thousands of Facebook and Instagram users around the world reported service outages on Meta platforms on Sunday, though the cause of the disruption remained unclear.
Users reported login failures, inaccessible accounts, and difficulties loading content.
On Facebook, messages state that accounts are temporarily unavailable due to a site error, while on Instagram, reports concern several of the app’s core functions.
Users report that Reels remain stuck or fail to play, new photos and posts do not appear, and pulling down the screen to refresh the feed does not update the content. For other users, a completely white screen opens, sometimes without any error message explaining what went wrong.
In some cases, the application itself opens but only displays old content that was previously loaded on the device. This phenomenon can occur when it is impossible to retrieve new data from the company’s servers, even when the phone is connected to a working cellular or Wi-Fi network.
Users who tried closing the app, switching between networks, or restarting their devices reported that the issue persisted.
The appearance of errors on two platforms belonging to the same company raises the possibility that the disruption stems from Meta’s shared systems, but there is no official confirmation at this stage.
It is not yet clear whether the outage affects all users or only specific accounts, devices, and regions.
It appears that some users continue to use Facebook and Instagram without difficulty, while others encounter recurring issues. It is also unknown at this time whether the Messenger, Threads, and WhatsApp services were affected by the incident.

Users encountering a white screen or an unrefreshing feed are advised not to delete their accounts, change their passwords, or repeatedly reinstall the application at this stage. If the issue stems from the company’s systems, these actions are not expected to resolve it. You can try closing the app, reopening it, checking for an updated version, and waiting for service to be restored.
