Heifer International Nigeria has announced the Top 5 finalists for the AYuTe Nigeria Challenge 2026, identifying five of the country’s most promising young agri-tech entrepreneurs whose innovations are actively transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector and food systems.
The AYuTe Africa Challenge — Agriculture, Youth, and Technology — is a flagship initiative of Heifer International, designed to identify, support, and scale youth-led agri-tech solutions across Africa. Now in its 2026 edition in Nigeria, the challenge has once again surfaced a cohort of founders building practical, technology-driven responses to some of the most entrenched challenges facing Nigerian farmers and the broader food value chain.
This year’s finalists illustrate both the diversity of Nigeria’s agricultural challenges and the ingenuity of the entrepreneurs responding to them.
A RIGOROUS SELECTION PROCESS
The 2026 edition of the AYuTe Nigeria Challenge attracted over 2,000 applications from young entrepreneurs across the country, making it one of the most competitive cycles in the challenge’s history. From this exceptional pool of applicants, a rigorous multi-stage assessment process was used to identify the ventures with the strongest combination of innovation, impact potential, and scalability.
The Top 5 finalists went on to participate in a mini Demo Day before proceeding into a structured incubation and acceleration programme delivered by Wennovation Hub, one of Nigeria’s leading innovation and enterprise development organisations, serving as the technical partner for this year’s edition. Through this programme, the finalists received intensive support designed to sharpen their business models, strengthen their operational frameworks, and prepare them for investment readiness. The acceleration process also ensured that each founder arrived at the Grand Finale with a refined pitch, a stronger understanding of their market, and the tools needed to engage credibly with investors and development partners.
The result is a cohort of five ventures that are not simply promising on paper — they have been tested, challenged, and prepared to scale.
THE TOP 5 FINALISTS
Udokanma Georgewill
Yemert is helping farmers access crop insurance, markets, and climate finance through a USSD platform that works on basic mobile phones, making these services accessible even without internet connectivity. By meeting farmers where they are, Yemert is bringing critical financial tools to some of Nigeria’s most underserved agricultural communities.
Victor Ogunshola
Farm Monitor Africa is helping farmers better manage climate risks while generating digital records that improve access to finance through artificial intelligence and satellite weather data. As climate shocks become more frequent and severe, Farm Monitor Africa is equipping farmers with the foresight and financial pathways to respond.
Victor Nnamani
XChangeBox is addressing delayed payments through trade finance that improves farmers’ cash flow and helps ensure more value remains with producers. By removing the friction that traps farmers in cycles of debt and dependence on middlemen, XChangeBox is rebalancing the economics of agricultural trade in favour of the people who grow Nigeria’s food.
Bello Amos Bwala — Agrigoo Trades and Commodities Limited
Agrigoo Trades and Commodities Limited is connecting farmers directly with buyers through a digital marketplace that improves price transparency and product traceability. By shortening the distance between farm and market, Agrigoo is helping farmers capture more of the value their produce generates.
Victoria Ogwanighie
Kiyoko Foods Ltd is creating more value from Nigerian cocoa by sourcing locally, training farmers to improve quality, and processing more cocoa within the country. Kiyoko’s bean-to-bar model demonstrates how agri-processing can simultaneously raise farmer incomes and build Nigeria’s domestic value chain.
ABOUT THE GRAND FINALE
The AYuTe Nigeria Challenge 2026 Grand Finale will take place on Sunday, 20th July 2026at the prestigious Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja. The event will bring together Nigeria’s leading voices in agriculture, technology, policy, and development finance, and will feature final pitches from all five finalists, a panel discussion on scaling youth-led agri-tech innovations for Nigeria’s food systems transformation, a video documentary on the journey of the 2026 challenge, and the unveiling of the 2026 AYuTe Nigeria Champion.
The Grand Finale promises to be a landmark moment for Nigeria’s agri-tech ecosystem, convening investors, development partners, government representatives, and innovators around businesses that have already demonstrated significant potential.
