The Hollywoodbets Super League delivered an exhilarating weekend of football with teams showcasing exceptional talent and determination, as the University of Johannesburg cruised past newly-promoted Ezemvelo Women’s FC displaying a dominant performance.

The 6-1 away win for the Orange Army saw goals from various players, highlighting their offensive depth, Thato Mofolo and Ayesha Moosa both secured a brace in the comprehensive victory.

Refilwe Maseko and Gugu Dhlamini sealed the 3 points in the dying minutes of the game, with Banyana international Dhlamini added to the baptism of fire from the bench.

Nthebeleng Modiko’s team move to the summit of the table after 4 games (3 wins and 1 loss) and will be eager to maintain this momentum.

City Lads FC secured their first win of the season with a 3-1 triumph over UP-Tuks. The goals for City Lads were scored by key players Siphosethu Nojoko (32’ and 42’) after Ashley Booysen opened the scoring in the 21st minute. The Gqeberha-based side capitalised on defensive lapses from Maud Khumalo’s charges.

This was Khumalo’s first game of the new campaign following a number of postponements of their fixtures. As a result, the students find themselves on 13th position in the log standings, with Royal AM and Richmond United yet to take to the field in the 2025 season.

Rennika Khoza scored the sole goal of their clash against fellow student University of Western Cape Ladies as UFH maintained their unbeaten streak.

The solitary goal came from a well-executed set-piece, underscoring UFH’s tactical discipline.

The league standings are heating up, with teams jostling for top positions.
