I left Nigeria, Nollywood for my children – Bukky Wright

Seasoned actress Bukky Wright has opened up about her decision to leave Nigeria and the movie industry, saying it was a sacrifice she made for her children.

Speaking on TV host Morayo Afolabi Brown’s show, Wright said motherhood and legacy were among the issues she had to confront.

The actress disclosed that she relocated abroad for the sake of her children and would make the same decision again if given the chance.

“I left this country many years ago because of my children, and I will do it over and over again if I have to,” she said.

Wright also apologised to her fans for exiting the industry without explanation.

“At this point, I think I have to apologise. I am so sorry I left you guys without letting you know. Mama duty called,” she added.

The actress discussed her return to cinema with her new film, The Return of Omotara Johnson.

She said the project was inspired by repeated requests from fans.

She revealed she kept the production secret because she believes things manifest better when kept private.

“I didn’t tell anybody I was coming back. A lot of people didn’t know I was shooting because I have learnt something: what you keep to your heart manifests a lot better”, she said.

“Thanks to my son and my team; they pulled the marketing strategy together,” she added.
