IndiGo has strengthened its long-term fleet expansion strategy with two major agreements announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, selecting more than 1,000 CFM International LEAP-1A engines and Honeywell Aerospace’s avionics and power systems for hundreds of future Airbus A320neo family aircraft.

The larger of the two agreements is a memorandum of understanding with CFM International for more than 1,000 LEAP-1A engines to power 510 Airbus A320neo family aircraft. The agreement also includes plans to establish an engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility and a long-term materials support programme for spare parts.
Separately, Honeywell Aerospace announced that IndiGo has selected its avionics and auxiliary power systems for 810 Airbus A320neo family aircraft. The agreement also includes long-term aftermarket support and represents Honeywell Aerospace’s largest commercial aircraft equipment selection to date.
CFM’s record LEAP-1A engine agreement includes long-term MRO support for IndiGo’s expanding Airbus A320neo fleet
The CFM agreement represents the largest single order placed for LEAP engines and will support future deliveries from IndiGo’s extensive Airbus A320neo family orderbook.
Alongside supplying the engines, CFM will support the establishment of IndiGo’s planned engine MRO facility, providing overhaul capability for the airline’s growing fleet. The agreement also includes a long-term materials services package covering spare parts intended to improve aircraft availability and maintenance planning.

IndiGo has worked with CFM for a decade. The airline initially operated Airbus A320ceo aircraft powered by CFM56-5B engines before selecting the LEAP-1A for subsequent A320neo family deliveries.

CFM said India is now its third-largest market, with five Indian airlines operating more than 400 LEAP-powered aircraft and around 2,000 engines already on order.
Honeywell Aerospace will equip 810 future IndiGo Airbus A320neo family aircraft with avionics and power systems
Under its separate agreement with Honeywell Aerospace, IndiGo will equip 810 future Airbus A320neo family aircraft with the company’s 131-9A auxiliary power units (APUs), weather radar, traffic collision avoidance systems (TCAS), flight management systems (FMS) and a long-term aftermarket support programme.
The 131-9A APU provides electrical and pneumatic power while the aircraft is on the ground and supports engine starting. The weather radar is designed to help flight crews detect and avoid adverse weather, while the TCAS provides traffic alerts to reduce the risk of mid-air collisions. Honeywell’s flight management system integrates navigation, route planning and aircraft performance functions to support flight operations.
The agreement also includes comprehensive aftermarket support intended to maximise aircraft availability and help operators plan maintenance over the life of the fleet.

IndiGo strengthens long-term fleet support strategy as it expands domestic and international operations
The announcements come as IndiGo continues one of the world’s largest commercial aircraft expansion programmes.
The airline currently operates a fleet of more than 430 aircraft, serves more than 140 destinations and operates around 2,200 flights each day. It carried more than 123 million passengers during the 2025-26 financial year and continues to expand both its domestic and international network.
Beyond securing engines and onboard systems for future aircraft deliveries, the agreements also reinforce IndiGo’s strategy of investing in long-term operational support.
