Renewable energy developer JUWI has reached a major construction milestone, with more than 1 GW of renewable energy capacity currently being built simultaneously across projects worldwide. The achievement comes as the company begins installing solar modules at the Trifylli solar park in Greece, adding to an active global pipeline of solar and wind projects
Over the past three decades, JUWI has developed more than 3.5 GW of wind power and over 4 GW of solar PV capacity globally. The company expects to add around 1 GW of new renewable energy capacity over the coming months
Greece Leads Large-Scale Solar Expansion
A significant share of the company’s ongoing work is in Greece, where JUWI is developing seven solar projects with a combined capacity exceeding 400 MW
Among them is the Trifylli solar park in northern Greece, part of the 156-MW Clover photovoltaic portfolio being built for the investor Mirova. The four-project portfolio is expected to be fully commissioned by next year
The company noted that construction in Greece has required careful planning due to the frequent discovery of archaeological remains during site development, requiring design adjustments to minimise project delays
In Senegal, JUWI is nearing completion of the Grande Côte Operation hybrid renewable project for mining company Eramet. The project includes a 20.3 MW solar PV plant integrated with an 11.12 MW battery energy storage system
Meanwhile, construction continues on four solar projects in South Africa with a combined capacity of around 350 MW
While international operations are focused primarily on solar energy, wind remains JUWI’s largest revenue contributor in Germany
The company is currently constructing 46 wind turbines with a combined capacity of around 270 MW across 11 sites located in Brandenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and North Rhine-Westphalia
JUWI also highlighted recent project completions in the United States and Italy
In the US, the company commissioned the 186 MW Axial Basin Solar project in Colorado’s Moffat County and the 141 MW Dolores Canyon Solar project in Dolores County
In Italy, JUWI connected a 41.7 MW solar park in Sardinia to the grid, where construction teams encountered archaeological discoveries believed to date back around 6,000 years. The company also completed the Loreo solar park near Venice, where engineers addressed challenging marshland soil conditions during construction
