MATCH STATS: Kenya face Algeria in TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Morocco 2026 Group A

Kenya, still searching for their first WAFCON points, face Algeria in their final Group A match at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Monday, 3 August, with kick-off at 21h00 local time (20h00 GMT).

    • This will be the first meeting between Kenya and Algeria at the WAFCON finals.

    • Algeria are facing East African opposition for the first time.

    • Kenya will be the 11th different nation Algeria have faced at the WAFCON.

    • Algeria have defeated three nations in their first WAFCON meeting: Mali in 2004, Botswana at the last edition and Senegal at the current tournament.

    • Kenya are facing North African opposition for the second time.

    • Their only previous meeting against a North African team came in their opening game at the current edition, when they lost 4-0 to hosts Morocco.

    • Kenya lost 1-0 to Senegal in their previous match.

    • They have lost all five of their WAFCON matches and are still searching for their first point at the finals.

    • Kenya have conceded in all five of their WAFCON games.

    • Their defeat to Senegal was their first at the finals by a single-goal margin.

    • This is the first tournament at which Kenya have failed to score in either of their opening two group games.

    • They have failed to score in their last three WAFCON matches.

    • Kenya have gone 279 minutes at the finals without scoring. Their most recent goal was scored by Cheris Salano in the 80th minute of their 3-1 defeat to Mali in their second group game in 2016.

    • They have never completed all three group matches at the same edition without scoring.

    • Kenya attempted 22 shots against Senegal, with six on target, their highest totals on record in a WAFCON match.

    • Goalkeeper Lilian Awuor made six saves in the defeat to Senegal and has now recorded 12 saves in her two appearances at the current tournament.

    • Algeria’s five-match unbeaten run came to an end with their 1-0 defeat to Morocco in their previous match.

    • They had kept five successive clean sheets before conceding against Morocco.

    • Victory would take Algeria through to the knockout stage.

    • They could also progress with a draw if Senegal fail to defeat Morocco in the other Group A match.

    • Progression would see Algeria reach the knockout stage for the second time, having made their first quarter-final appearance at the last edition.

    • Algeria have failed to win their second group game at their last six tournament appearances, recording one draw and five defeats.

    • They have never won their final group game at the WAFCON. Their record reads P6 W0 D2 L4.

    • The only occasions on which Algeria avoided defeat in their final group game were a 3-3 draw against Equatorial Guinea in 2006 and a 0-0 draw with Nigeria at the last edition.

    • Algeria led Equatorial Guinea 2-0 before eventually drawing 3-3 in 2006.

    • Their four final-group defeats came in 2004, 2010, 2014 and 2018.

    • Algeria scored and conceded in each of their first five final group games before drawing 0-0 with Nigeria at the last edition.

    • Algeria managed only two shots on target in their defeat to Morocco.

    • Roselène Khezami had 71 touches against Morocco, the second-most by any player in the game.
