The scheduled trip by Lubbock nonprofit Purpose Medical Mission to the Democratic Republic of Congo was canceled due to a recent Ebola outbreak. However, the organization remains committed to ensuring that essential medical supplies reach those in need.

Previously, in February, volunteers shipped nearly 1 million children’s and prenatal vitamins to support two medical clinics where Lubbock medical and agricultural volunteers have been serving for over a decade. This prior shipment highlights the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare in these communities.
Founded by Cameroon native Sixtus Atabong, the nonprofit mobilizes volunteers, medical professionals, churches, and supporters to provide medical assistance, humanitarian aid, health education, and more to communities where access to healthcare is limited. “Although our team’s travel plans have changed, the need has not,” said Purpose Medical Mission Founder Sixtus Atabong. “These supplies will help support healthcare workers and patients who continue to face significant challenges in accessing medical care.
